Aldo Rebelo

José Aldo Rebelo Figueiredo (born February 23, 1956 in Viçosa , Alagoas ) is a Brazilian politician and journalist .

Life

Rebelo works as a journalist in Brazil. From 1980 to 1985 he was a member of the Partido do Movimento Democrático Brasileiro (PMDB) before joining the Partido Comunista do Brasil (PCdoB) in 1985 .

From 1989 to 1991 he was elected to the São Paulo City Council for the PCdoB. In the 1990 elections in Brazil , he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress for the state of São Paulo and was re-elected several times. From September 28, 2005 to January 31, 2007 Rebelo was the successor to Severino Cavalcanti as President of the Parliament of the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil. He was succeeded as President of Parliament in 2007 by MP Arlindo Chinaglia .

From October 27, 2011 to January 1, 2015, he was Minister of Sport in Dilma Rousseff's cabinet , and from January 1, 2015 he has been Brazil’s Minister of Science (Ministro da Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação).
