Alejandro José Hernández Hernández (born November 10, 1982 in Lanzarote , Canary Islands ) is a Spanish football referee who has been whistling in the Primera División , the highest Spanish football league , since 2012 , and has been a FIFA referee since 2014 .

Alejandro Hernández Hernández was born on November 10, 1982 on the Canary Island of Lanzarote. Having previously acted only in the field of youth and amateur level as a referee, he made his debut in the 2004/05 season as a referee in the third-tier Segunda División B . During this season he led 13 games and awarded 93 yellow and six red cards . In the following season he was involved in another 13 championship games and came up with 71 yellow and nine red cards. These values ​​increased significantly in 2006/07 when he already issued 107 yellow and 19 red cards. He then rose to referee the Segunda División , the second highest Spanish league, and over a period of five seasons led 102 second division games and awarded 627 yellow and 64 red cards. He also made his cup debut in the Copa del Rey 2008/09 and then headed cup games in the 2009/10 and 2011/12 seasons. Before the start of the Primera División 2012/13 , Hernández Hernández was appointed first division referee and from then on regularly headed around 20 league games per season. He was also a regular referee in the Spanish Football Cup and also headed his first Spanish Supercup in the 2016/17 season . During the same season he directed his second El Clásico . In 2014, Hernández Hernández , who lives in Arrecife, was promoted to the position of FIFA referee and from then on also directed international matches.
