Alejandro Lago , full name Eduardo Alejandro Lago Correa , (born June 28, 1979 in Treinta y Tres ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

The 1.87 meter tall defensive player Lago was at the beginning of his career at least from 2000 up to and including the Clausura 2002 at Centro Atlético Fénix, first in the Segunda División and then in the Primera División under contract. In 2001 and 2002, he made 71 top division appearances with the Montevideans and scored two goals. He then played in 2003 for Club Atlético Peñarol , which won the Uruguayan championship that year. With the Aurinegros he ran 26 times in the Primera División (no goal). After returning to Fénix, he played 44 league games there in 2004 and 2005 and scored one goal. He then moved to Europe and was used eight times in the Eliteserien at the Norwegian club Rosenborg Trondheim that year (no goal). For the Clausura 2006, in which he ran twelve times (one goal), he returned to Uruguay to Bella Vista . His next career station was in Sweden in 2006 . In the Allsvenskan he played twelve games for IFK Gothenburg and scored twice in the opposing goal. From 2007 to 2012 he was again under contract with Rosenborg Trondheim. There, the statistics show him four (no goal), 21 in 2008 (no goal), 28 (one goal) in 2009, nine (no goal) in 2010, 26 (no goal) in 2011. In 2009 and 2010 the Trondheimers were Norwegian champions . In 2010 they also won the Norwegian Supercup . In 2012 he moved to the Montevideo Wanderers . There he played 13 games in the 2011/12 season and played 15 games in 2012/13 . He did not score a hit. Lago belonged to the U-17 team of Uruguay , trained by Juan Jacinto Rodríguez , who took part in the U-17 South American Championship in Peru in 2001 and finished in 6th place. He was a member of the Uruguayan senior team . He made his debut on June 8, 2003 under national coach Juan Ramón Carrasco in his first appearance as national coach, when he was part of the friendly against the selection of South Korea in the starting eleven. In his first international match, he also held the office of team captain. He made a total of 16 international matches (no goal) for Uruguay. His last appearance was on October 12, 2004 against Bolivia in World Cup qualification. At that time, the Celeste coach was Jorge Fossati . He took part with Uruguay at the Copa America 2004 and finished third with the team.
