Alejandro Mestre Descals

Alejandro Mestre Descals SJ (born December 12, 1912 in Cuart de Poblet , Spain , † June 26, 1988 ) was coadjutor archbishop of La Paz .

Life

Alejandro Mestre Descals joined the Congregation of the Jesuits in and received on 30 July 1943, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On March 6, 1976, Pope Paul VI appointed him . the titular bishop of Tigisi in Mauretania and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Sucre . The Archbishop of Sucre, Josef Clemens Cardinal Maurer CSsR , donated him episcopal ordination on May 1st of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Bolivia , Archbishop Giuseppe Laigueglia , and the Bolivian Military Bishop , René Fernández Apaza .

On June 28, 1982 Pope John Paul II appointed him coadjutor archbishop of La Paz and elevated him to titular archbishop. On February 24, 1987, John Paul II accepted Alejandro Mestre Descals' resignation due to reasons of age.
