Alessandro Puttinati

Alessandro Puttinati (also Putinati ; born January 26, 1801 in Verona , † July 1, 1872 in Milan ) was an Italian sculptor.

Life

The son of the medalist and sculptor Francesco Puttinati studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera  in Milan and then with Bertel Thorvaldsen  in Rome . From 1824 to 1832 he worked for the Milan Cathedral and created seven statues.

Puttinati created religious and secular statues, monuments as well as desk and fireplace figurines of famous contemporaries. He showed his work in numerous exhibitions, including the exhibition of the Austrian Art Association in Vienna in 1863.
