Trunk Muzik 3 is the fifth solo album by the US rapper Yelawolf . It was released on March 29, 2019 on the Shady Records , Interscope and Slumerican labels for download and streaming only .
History of origin
Yelawolf's previous studio album Trial by Fire was released in October 2017. In early 2018 he announced that he would be working on Trunk Muzik 3 in the studio with producer WLPWR . In January 2019, Yelawolf announced that work on the album was completed.
Trunk Muzik 3 is the last Yelawolf album to be released on Eminem's Shady Records label.
Music style and production
The music style of the album is similar to the previously released mixtapes by Yelawolf, such as Trunk Muzik and Trunk Muzik Returns . In contrast to previous studio albums, he refrains from excursions into country music .
Much of the album was produced by music producer WLPWR (formerly WillPower), with whom Yelawolf already worked on Trunk Muzik . In addition, were DJ Paul , Jim Jonsin, Band Play, Locke and Ms Madli involved in the production.
Cover design
The album cover shows Yela wolf's tattooed torso. He wears a red vest, several chains and various rings. No lettering was used.
Guest Posts
In addition to Yelawolf, other artists are involved in seven of the 14 songs on the album. Despite his quarrel with Yelawolf's label boss Eminem , the rapper Machine Gun Kelly can be heard on the song Rowdy , while the rappers Big Henri and Shawty Fatt are featured on We Slum . Cook Up Boss and MopTop have guest appearances on All the Way Up and the track box Chevy 6 is a collaboration with DJ Paul and Rittz. On No Such Thing as Free , Yelawolf is supported by rappers Caskey and Doobie. In addition, the scratches on the tracks TM3 , Box Chevy 6 and Over Again are from DJ Klever.

The first single TM3 was released for download on March 15, 2019 and a week later the second single , Catfish Billy 2, followed . In addition, from January 9, 2019, Yelawolf published a weekly freestyle until the album was released.

Yannik Gölz from laut.de rated Trunk Muzik 3 with four out of a possible five points. The album works “minimalistically: hard bass beat, a somewhat drowned sample (mostly electric guitars or synthesizers) for the aftertaste and a yelawolf, which is at the center with powerful flows and battleraps.” The songs Catfish Billy 2 , We Slum are particularly positive and Special Kind of Bad highlighted. The sound is “dense and concise and the individual songs are of a high standard, but the 14 tracks are not particularly entertaining,” which “could be due to the raw style of the project”.
