RapReviews |
Radioactive received mostly average to positive ratings from critics. The side Metacritic calculated from 17 Reviews of English-language media an average of 62%.
The website laut.de positively highlighted Yelawolf's lyrics and rap technique, but criticized the refrains and some beats and awarded three out of a possible five points:
“Hookless - the boy from Alabama would have stayed better. While his verses, without a point or comma, but with a double load of rhythm, leave nothing to be desired, Yelawolf doesn't necessarily have a knack for the compelling chorus on "Radioactive". Whether kid rock in "Let's Roll", R'n'B-lard in "Good Girl" or mediocre ("Write Your Name") to dreadful ("Made In The USA") female vocals: The hookline guests would have liked Yelawolf - with the exception of Lil Jon, who opens the crunk barrel again in "Hard White (Up In The Club)" - all of them can give away. It's different with the rap features, including Killer Mike and of course Shady Records boss Eminem. In particular, the reunion with Mystikal, who rams the wood of his voice into your ear canal in "Get Away", turns out to be extremely enjoyable. [...] It's just a shame that the beats too often don't do justice to the quality and especially the wickedness of the lyrics. [...] Why such good piano, string, music box or acoustic guitar sounds have to gain the upper hand after a much sharper introduction at the latest from halfway through the running time is not immediately apparent - at least not if you look at Yelawolf's texts and behavior at the same time.
