Alex Alfieri

Alex Alfieri (* 1971 ) is an Italian neurosurgeon and university professor .

Life

Alfieri completed his habilitation at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg . He is a full university professor at the Brandenburg Medical School and chief physician at the Neurosurgery Clinic at the Winterthur Cantonal Hospital (Switzerland). Before that, he was chief physician at the clinic for neurosurgery and spinal surgery at the Ruppiner clinics in Neuruppin , managing senior physician at the university clinic and polyclinic of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in Halle (Saale) , as senior physician at the Inselspital university clinic in Bern and as medical director in neurosurgery at the Central Hospital Bolzano . In 2000 he was awarded the “Premio Enrico Tagliapietra” by the Società Italiana di Neurochirurgia for a thesis on dens fractures of the cervical spine.

Alfieri has published papers on neuroanatomy , syringomyelia , vascular neurosurgery, and spinal surgery. He is a member of the faculty council of the Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane and on the editorial board of Acta Neurochirurgica.

Alfieri is Deputy Chairman of the examination committee for further training as a specialist in neurosurgery of the Brandenburg State Medical Association for the period 2016–2020 and member of the European Board of Neurological Surgery (formerly joint examination committee of EANS and UEMS).

In 2019 he became a professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences in Potsdam. Since 2019 he has also been working at the Glatt Medical Center.
