Central Hospital Bolzano

The Bolzano Central Hospital is the largest hospital in the Italian province of South Tyrol . It is located in the Gries-Quirein district on Lorenz Böhler- Strasse. The health district of Bolzano is responsible for an area of ​​1525 km². The hospital's catchment area comprises approximately 45% of the total population of the country. The clinic has 790 beds; in 2010, 27,870 inpatients were admitted. The mean inpatient treatment duration is 7.1 days, the occupancy rate is 79.4%.

An international ideas and planning competition was announced in 1998 for the renovation and expansion of the hospital, which was built in several stages between 1963, 1978 and 1993. The design by the Stuttgart team of architects under Astrid Tiemann-Petri won this competition. The building complex has been completely renovated and expanded since 2005. It is managed by the South Tyrolean medical company .
