Life

Alex Schaad was born in Kazakhstan and came to Germany with his parents as a repatriate at the age of three . job

In January 2016, Schaad celebrates its premiere with his short film “Invention of Trust” at the Max-Ophüls-Preis film festival , where he was awarded the jury prize for the best medium-length film . The jury's statement says: “... this film [...] admonishes us about a superbly played monologue by the main actor Dimitri Schaad, who speaks continuously in a cinematic ingenious crane ride, a slow-motion flight on buildings past and across the streets, that we must please be aware of protecting our own private life. A film - great up-to-date - great played - congenially photographed. "

A few months later, the film also won the gold student Oscar .

The 30-minute film is his second practice film as part of his directing studies at the chair of Professor Andreas Gruber . He wrote the script together with his brother Dimitrij Schaad . In his film, Schaad tells the story of a young high school teacher.

Schaad's third practice film at the HFF Munich is the 30-minute short film "ENDLING", which again celebrated its premiere in 2018 at the Max-Ophüls-Preis film festival, where it won the audience award for the best medium-length film . The film is about a miner in the last colliery in the Ruhr area, who desperately tries to give his life one final meaning in view of the closure and his physical decline.

After studying directing, he shot the contribution “Part Of The World” as part of the episode film “The Love Europe Project” produced by Gabriela Sperl. The work about Europe, realized jointly by ten directors from nine countries, received the Grimme Prize in the fiction category.
