Alexander Anatoljewitsch Schirwindt ( Russian Александр Анатольевич Ширвиндт ; born July 19, 1934 in Moscow ) is a Russian actor and director .

Life

As the son of an actress, Schirwindt experienced all the theater stars of the time as guests of his family. At the age of 18 he entered the Boris Shchukin theater school, which he left in 1956 "with distinction". He found his first engagement at the Moscow Komsomol Theater. There he played over 30 roles . As a student , he and fellow students founded a cabaret that later became legendary as the “Kapustniki” (cabbage caterpillars). In the actor's house they made fun of everyday life in the Soviet Union with scenes and skits . They played twice a day in front of a sold-out house. With each new program they also appeared in Leningrad , where their success was repeated. At the satirical theater (Moscow) since 1970 , he became its artistic director in December 2000. For the 60th anniversary of the theater, he organized the revue “Schweige, Kummer, Schweige”, which reminded of all the ups and downs of this stage. The films made with him since 1956 are now available in DVD versions.

The fact that his family name was identical with the East Prussian Schirwindt caused him a lot of trouble - until he provided evidence that in 1944 a cousin had “freed Schirwindt”. He wants to rebuild "the lost city".
