Irony of Fate: Continuation ( Russian Ирония судьбы: Продолжение / Ironija sudby: Prodolschenije ) is a Russian film from 2007 by Timur Bekmambetow . It is based on a script by Alexei Slapowski , was produced by Channel First and published by Mosfilm . The film budget was $ 5,000,000. By January 28, 2008, the sequel grossed the equivalent of US $ 47,639,171 in Russia alone, making it the most successful Russian feature film of all time. It's both a sequel and a remake of the first irony of fate .
The first press release about the plans for a sequel was released on the 30th anniversary of the previous film in 2005 . The trailer was first shown in late 2007 on a television show on Pervy kanal for the birthday of the original director Eldar Ryazanov .

Trivia
- Milla Jovovich was suggested by the scriptwriter for the role of young Nadja, but turned it down after reading the script.
- The film includes product placement from Nokia , Toyota , Beeline , Aeroflot , Faberlic , Nescafé, and the vodka brand Russian Standard .
- Almost every image in the film makes emphatic use of the combination of red and blue (wine glass on the table, decoration of the New Year's tree, the red apartment door in the blue wall, etc.). The same colors are used on the balloons with the names of the performers.
- Apartment No. 13, where the main plot takes place, was called " fairy tale " by the film authors ( see bonus material on the DVD ), the inner walls were covered with "magical things".
- The date on the crackers (the photo appears on the bonus material on the DVD) is December 24, 2006. This may be an indication that the film action is scheduled for the night before Christmas , not New Year's Day .
