Alexander Flamant

Alexander Flamant (born March 28, 1836 in Frankfurt am Main , † March 30, 1897 in Dresden ) was a German landscape and portrait painter.

Life

Alexander Flamant studied at the art academies in Berlin and Dresden . In 1857 he became a member of the Corps Vandalia Berlin . In Dresden he was a student of Julius Huebner and Ludwig Richter , where he also settled as a painter after completing his studies. He found the motifs for his landscape paintings in particular in the Harz Mountains and in Saxon Switzerland . He painted a portrait of the astronomer Samuel Heinrich Schwabe for the Dessau Historical Society . He was the founder and member of the Open Lodge Association in Dresden. In 1875 he was accepted as a real member of the Natural Science Society ISIS Dresden .
