Alexander Gawriilowitsch Abdulow ( Russian Алекса́ндр Гаврии́лович Абду́лов , scientific transliteration Aleksandr Gavriilovič Abdulov ; born May 29, 1953 in Tobolsk ; † January 3, 2008 in Moscow ) was a Russian actor . He starred in over 100 films and was considered a sex symbol in the Soviet Union in the 1980s. Occasionally he was also active as a film director.

Life

After graduating from school in 1970, Abdulow wanted to be a competitive athlete. However, his father encouraged him to act. His film debut was in 1974 in About Vitja, Mascha and the Navy . In 1975 he finished the drama school GITIS and began to work in the Lenkom Theater with Mark Sakharov ( Russian Марк Захаров ).

Alexander Abdulov appeared in numerous films in the 1970s. In 1977 he starred in Mark Sakharov's television adaptation of Twelve Chairs . He gained national fame in 1978 after the lead role in the film The Ordinary Miracle ( Russian "Обыкновенное чудо" ). A year later he played in the popular short series The Predetermined Meeting ( Russian "Место встречи изменить нельзя" ) with Vladimir Vysotskij ( Russian Владимир Высоцкий ). In the early 1980s, Abdulow was considered a sex symbol. His other films were Cherchez la femme , The Magicians and The Woman in White .
