Alexander Gorkow

Alexander Gorkow (born August 22, 1966 in Düsseldorf ) is a German writer and journalist .

Life

Alexander Gorkow studied mediaeval studies , German and philosophy . He has been with the Süddeutsche Zeitung since 1993 . From 1995 to 1998 he was state parliament correspondent for the SZ. In 2002 he took over the newly launched Saturday supplement "SZ am Sonntag", and since 2009 he has been the head of page three of the SZ.

In 2003 he published the novel Kalbs Schweigen . His critically acclaimed novel Mona followed in 2007 . He tells of a specialist in cold chain systems by the name of Blum, who ends up in chaos in Bucharest and falls madly in love with the Romanian beauty Mona.

In 2012, together with photographer Andreas Mühe , he received the German Reporter Award in the Grand Prix category, which was awarded for the first time , for Reportage USA, which appeared in SZ-Magazin at 8:56 p.m.

In 2017 his novel Hotel Laguna: My Family on the Beach was published . He portrays his family in a cheerful, self-deprecating way and draws a portrait of the customs of traveling, from the early 1970s to the present age of digital travel portals. In 2018 he was awarded the German Reporter Prize for the best interview of the year .

Alexander Gorkow is married to Julie Gruenwald for the second time and has three children.
