Alexander Gutierrez (born December 24, 1990 in Breckenridge , Colorado ) is an American - Mexican ice hockey player who has played again for the Mayan Astronomers in the Mexicana Elite League since 2015 .

Career

Alexander Gutierrez, who was born to parents of Mexican descent in the well-known US ski resort Breckenridge , began his career as a hockey player with the Bozeman Ice Dogs, for which he played in the Northern Pacific Hockey League in 2009/10 . When a semi-professional ice hockey league was founded in 2010 with the Liga Mexicana Élite , he moved to the land of his ancestors and played in the premiere season for the Teotihuacan Priests , with whom he won 2-1 (5-0, 4-5, 2 -1) in the final play-off games against the Mayan Astronomers won the Mexican national championship. The following season moved to the defeated final opponent, for whom he was active for two years. In the 2014/15 season he played for the University of Alabama team in Division III of the US University Championships . Since 2015 he has been playing for the Mayan Astronomers again.

International

For Mexico Gutierrez took part in the Division II World Championships in 2011 , 2012 , 2013 and 2016 when he was voted best player on his team. His two goals in the 8: 7 win after extra time against Bulgaria and in the 4: 3 win over tournament winner Israel contributed significantly to the surprising third place for the Mexicans in Group B of Division II in 2013. He also took part in the pre-qualification for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , from which the Mexican team was eliminated in the pre-qualification.
