Alexander "Alex" Heath (born September 21, 1978 in Wynberg ) is a South African ski racer. He took part in the Winter Olympics three times for South Africa between 1998 and 2006.

Career

After participating in the 1996 Alpine World Ski Championships in Sierra Nevada, Spain, and the 1997 Alpine World Ski Championships in Sestriere , he qualified for the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano and was also nominated for the Games. He started there in Super-G and Slalom . While he was eliminated early in the Super-G, he finished 33rd in the slalom after the first run and in the second run he was able to improve to 26th place. On March 14, 1998 he took third place at the slalom competition in Burke Mountain, his first podium at an FIS race .

In Georgian Peaks he finished on January 11, 1999 his best result in an FIS giant slalom race. With second place in these FIS races, he achieved his best result so far. In the 2001/02 season he qualified for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City . In the competition in the downhill he finished 51st and in the giant slalom 48th place. In the slalom he was able to confirm his good result from four years ago with the 27th place. In the super combination he was eliminated in the slalom.

He was able to qualify for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , where he competed in all five disciplines. He dropped out early in the slalom and super combination competitions. While he finished 52nd and 50th in the Downhill and Super G, respectively, he achieved his best result in the giant slalom. After the first run he was in 30th place and in the second run he was able to improve to 27th place. His best result so far in the South American Cup he achieved on September 6, 2005 in Las Leñas . In the slalom competition, he took third place.

His last appearance so far on the big alpine ski stage was at the 2015 Alpine World Ski Championships in Vail / Beaver Creek . He wanted to start there in giant slalom and slalom. While he was surviving the slalom qualification, he was disqualified in the giant slalom qualification. In the slalom competition, he finished 40th.
