Alexander Jobst (born September 24, 1973 in Fulda ) is a German marketing specialist and football official . He is the director of marketing, sales and organization at FC Schalke 04 .

Life

Jobst graduated from the University of Bayreuth with a diploma in sports economics in 2000 . He then worked 6 years in sports sponsorship at Siemens AG in Munich, u. a. based on Real Madrid and Bayern Munich . At the end of 2005, Jobst moved to Real Madrid's marketing management with management responsibilities. He was the first foreigner in management there. In 2007 he moved to the world football association FIFA in Zurich , where he was Head of Sales until 2011, where he was in charge of sponsorship and licensing.

In 2011 Jobst became a member of the three-person board of directors of FC Schalke 04 with a three-year contract - responsible for the marketing and merchandising departments . Although Schalke 04 only played in the Europa League instead of the Champions League in the 2011/2012 season, Jobst managed to reduce the revenue from marketing and merchandising in 2012 compared to 2011 ( Schalke 04's financial year is not the season, but the calendar year) 71.8 million to 75.9 million euros. However, total sales fell by € 33 million, in particular due to lower transfer income and exploitation rights. In 2014, around € 83 million was achieved in this area. The area of marketing and merchandising thus made up around a third of the total turnover of the Schalke group.

Under the direction of Jobst, Schalke 04 concluded a cooperation agreement with the ticket exchange viagogo on July 1, 2013, which was controversial in public and especially among fans. This contract was terminated without notice by the club on July 9, 2013.

In January 2014, Jobst's contract with FC Schalke 04 was extended until June 30, 2017, and again until 2022 in September 2016. At the general meeting of FC Schalke 04 on June 3, 2018 it was announced that Jobst's contract at Schalke had been extended to 2024. In July 2020, the Supervisory Board decided to reallocate the departments. Jobst, previously Board Member for Marketing & Communication, handed over the Communication department to Jochen Schneider , Director of Sports , and was given the Sales & Organization department in addition to Marketing .

Alexander Jobst is married and has two children.
