Jeffrey Chiesa (2013)

Jeffrey Scott Chiesa (born June 22, 1965 in Bound Brook , New Jersey ) is an American politician ( Republican Party ).

From 2012 to 2013 he was Attorney General of the state of New Jersey. On June 6, 2013, Governor Chris Christie announced that he would appoint Chiesa as the US Senator for New Jersey with effect from June 10, 2013, making him the successor to the US Senator Frank Lautenberg , who died in early June . Chiesa immediately announced that she would not run for this Senate seat in the extraordinary by-election that followed in October 2013 and therefore held the office only on an interim basis until the appointed successor was sworn in. In this by-election on October 16, 2013, the Democratic politician Cory Booker prevailed; When he was sworn in on October 31, 2013, Chiesa's tenure in the Senate ended. Chiesa does not rule out running for political office in the future.

Chiesa retired from politics and became an attorney in New Jersey's eighth largest law firm, Wolff & Samson PC, which is considered one of the state's foremost political advisors. Its owner, David Samson (* 1939), a former Attorney General of the state and an important promoter of Chris Christie's political career , had been head of the New York Port Authority from 2011 and apparently in April 2014 in connection with the "Bridgegate" - Abandon Christie's Government Scandal. In April 2015, Samson also gave up running the company; Chiesa succeeded him as co-chairman of the Executive Committee , and the company has been called "Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC" since then.
