Alexander Jurjewitsch Junkow ( Russian Александр Юрьевич Юнков ; born November 21, 1982 in Voskressensk , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who was last under contract with Atlant Moskovskaya Oblast in the Continental Hockey League . His brother Mikhail is also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Alexander Junkow began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of the HK Dynamo Moscow , for whose second team he was active from 1998 to 2000 in the third-rate Pervaya League . From 1999 to 2002 the attacker was active in the Wysschaja Liga , the second Russian division, for the THK Tver and ZSK WWS Samara . In the 2002/03 season he was also in five games for his ex-club Dynamo Moscow in the Super League on the ice. In the 2003/04 season he ran for HK Liepājas Metalurgs in parallel in the East European Hockey League and in the Latvian Ice Hockey League .
The 2004/05 season Junkow spent at the second division club Vitjas Chekhov , with whom he was promoted to the super league. He also appeared twice for Chimik Woskressensk in the super league this season . In the following years he was under contract with HK Spartak Moscow and Severstal Tscherepowez for one season each . For the period from 2007 to 2009, the Russian returned to Spartak Moscow, which was included in the newly established Continental Hockey League for the 2008/09 season . Towards the end of the season he was signed by Spartak's league rival Amur Khabarovsk , for whom he played until November 2010. After a brief stint at HK Traktor Chelyabinsk Junkow returned to Spartak Moscow.
From May 2012 Junkow was back under contract with Amur Khabarovsk and was one of the top performers there for the next two years. In the 2014/15 season he only got 2 scorer points from 19 games, so that in December 2014 he was given to Atlant Moskovskaya Oblast .
