Alexander Münch

Alexander Münch (born November 21, 1900 in Dresden ; † October 18, 1984 ibid) was a German author and literary scholar . As a co-founder, he headed the Hauptmann Archive in Radebeul from 1950 .

Live and act

After the Hauptmann memorial was opened in Radebeul's Hohenhaus on November 14, 1948 , Hansgerhard Weiss ' and Münch's large collections of Gerhart Hauptmann and Carl Hauptmann works as well as additional secondary literature about these two authors formed the basis for the 6th June 1949 in the Hohenhaus opened the Radebeul Hauptmann Archive, which Weiss directed until he left for West Germany in 1950.

In 1950, Münch took over the management of the archive, which he made internationally known. Together with Rolf Rohmer , Münch published Gerhart Hauptmann: His Life in Pictures in 1958 , a second edition followed in 1962. Another four, partly revised editions by Rohmer followed by 1987.

In 1961, Münch moved the Hauptmann archive to the Steinbach villa in the Radebeul district of Oberlößnitz .
