Alexander Mikhailovich Swerew ( Russian Александр Михайлович Зверев , also transcribed Alexander Mikhailovich Zverev ; born  January 22, 1960 in Sochi , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Soviet tennis player and current coach.

Career

Alexander Swerew played mainly on the ATP Challenger Tour during his professional career . In the Grand Prix , however, he had few successes. At the tournament in Geneva in 1985 he moved into the second round after defeating Damir Keretic . In the world rankings he achieved his best position in singles on March 18, 1985 with rank 175, in doubles he was ranked 307 at the same time. In Grand Slam tournaments he was in the main field three times: each in the singles in 1985 at the Australian Open and 1986 in Wimbledon , and in 1985 in the mixed competition at the French Open .

In the Davis Cup he completed a total of 16 matches for the Soviet Davis Cup team between 1979 and 1987 . He won twelve out of 26 singles games, and six of his ten games in doubles.

Personal

Alexander Swerew is with the former tennis player Irina Swerewa , geb. Fateeva, married. The couple lived in Moscow, where their first son Misha was born. In 1991 the family moved to Hamburg; the second son Alexander was born there in 1997 . The two sons are now also active as tennis professionals and are trained by their father.
