Alexander N. Vyssotsky
Alexander N. Vyssotsky ( Russian Александр Николаевич Высоцкий ; born May 23, 1888 in Moscow , Russian Empire , † December 31, 1973 in Winter Park , Florida ) was a Russian-American astronomer .
In the 35 years of his astronomical work at the Leander McCormick Observatory of the University of Virginia , he published countless works. His best-known work is entitled: Dwarf M Stars Found Spectrophotometrically . It was the first list of nearby stars that were identified not by their movements in the sky, but by their specific, spectroscopic properties. Vyssotsky used a 10- inch astrograph for his work .
1929, he married the astronomer Emma TR Williams of Philadelphia . With her he has the son Victor A. Vyssotsky .
The asteroid (1600) Vyssotsky is named after him.

In 1945 he discovered the planetary nebula Vy 2-3 .
