Alexander Nikolayevich Dinnik ( Russian Александр Николаевич Динник , Ukrainian Олександр Миколайович Динник Oleksandr Mykolajowytsch Dynnyk ; born January 19 . Jul / 31 January  1876 . Greg in Stavropol ; † 22. September 1950 in Kiev ) was a Soviet - Ukrainian Engineering Scientists of Mechanics.

biography

Dinnik was the son of a physics teacher and went to school in Stavropol. From 1894 he studied at the universities of Odessa and Kiev , where he graduated in 1899. Afterwards he was at the chair for physics at the Polytechnic in Kiev and later at that for strength theory. In 1909 he received his doctorate with a dissertation on contact mechanics. In 1910 he went to Munich to study with Arnold Sommerfeld and August Föppl . On his return in 1911 he became a professor at the Novocherkassk Polytechnic . In 1912 he received a doctorate degree from the TH Danzig under Hans Lorenz with a dissertation on flat plates and bowls. In 1913 he became professor for theoretical mechanics at the Mining Institute in Yekaterinoslav and in 1915 he completed his habilitation (Russian doctorate) at the University of Kharkiv (habilitation thesis: The application of Bessel functions in tasks of elasticity theory ). Until 1930 he was a professor at the Mining Institute in Yekaterinoslav and between 1944 and 1950 professor at the University of Kiev, where he worked as an educator.

In 1929 he became a full member of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences and from 1946 of the Soviet Academy of Sciences.

In his scientific career, Dinnik trained more than 40 doctors of science, including Guri Nikolajewitsch Savin . In 1946 he received the Order of Lenin and in 1944 the Order of the Red Banner of Labor . He died in Kiev at the age of 74 and was buried in the Lukjanivska cemetery . In 1973 a memorial plaque was installed on his house in Kiev to commemorate him .
