Nana Alexander Opoku (born August 31, 1974 ) is a Ghanaian football player .

Career

Opoku played for Brong Ahafo United in Ghana before moving to Germany. Opoko came to VfB Leipzig . With Leipzig he played in the Bundesliga , he played ten games and scored one goal. He made his debut in the 1993/94 season on the 11th match day against Eintracht Frankfurt , when he was substituted on for Matthias Liebers by coach Bernd Stange in the 75th minute of the game . The game ended 2-1 for Frankfurt. Opoku's other appearances in the Bundesliga also remained without a win, he couldn't win any of his games. As unsuccessful as it was, the season for Leipzig ended, with eleven points behind a non-relegation place, the last place in the table was taken. After relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga , Opoku completed 54 appearances in the next four seasons and scored three goals. The paths parted after the 1997/98 season after Leipzig was also relegated from the 2nd division. He moved to FC Remscheid for a year , then he laced up his shoes for FSV Frankfurt in the Regionalliga Süd. He later played for SV Rot-Weiß Bad Muskau .

National team

In 1991 he was a member of the Ghanaian team that became U-17 world champions in Italy . He led the team, which was supervised by trainer Otto Pfister , as captain.
