Alexander Schuck

Alexander Schuck (born May 18, 1957 in Leipzig ) is a former German canoeist . Together with Olaf Heukrodt, he became canoeing world champion in 1985 and took part in the Olympic Games in 1988 for the German Democratic Republic . In his active time started for the SC DHfK Leipzig .

Career

At the world championships in 1983 he and Olaf Heukrodt won the silver medal behind the team from Romania in a two-man canoe over the 1,000 meters. Two years later they won the gold medal together at the 1985 World Championships in the same boat class.

He was nominated by the National Olympic Committee of the GDR for the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul and started together with Thomas Zereske from SC Neubrandenburg in the two-man canoe over 500 meters. They qualified for the final run and missed a medal there with a fifth place.

Private

He is married to Silke Hörner , Olympic and world champion in swimming. He is the father of the German canoeist Marina Schuck and the uncle of the German canoeist Anett Schuck .
