Alexander Ulrich (born February 11, 1971 in Kusel ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). He was state chairman of the party in Rhineland-Palatinate (2007 to 2010 and 2012 to 2016) and is the 2nd authorized representative of IG Metall Kaiserslautern.

Life and work

After attending secondary school , Ulrich began training as a toolmaker in 1987 , which he finished in 1990. He then worked at Opel AG in his learned profession , where he was released from work as a member of the works council from 1994 to 1998 . In 1998 he moved to IG Metall Kaiserslautern as the second authorized representative and managing director . At the same time he works as an honorary labor judge.

Alexander Ulrich is married and has two children. He lives with his family in Reichenbach-Steegen ( Kaiserslautern district ).

Political party

Ulrich was a member of the SPD from 1998 to 2004 and was one of the co-founders of the WASG in 2004. Until 2007 he was WASG state chairman in Rhineland-Palatinate. From 2007 to June 2010 Ulrich was one of the two state chairmen in Rhineland-Palatinate. On November 24, 2012 Ulrich was elected to the four-member spokesman's council of the Left Rhineland-Palatinate. Alexander Ulrich has been a member of the dual leadership of the Left in Rhineland-Palatinate since December 2013. Ulrich has been the sole chairman of the Kaiserslautern-Land district association since summer 2011.

Alexander Ulrich has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2005 . He is a full member and chairman of the Committee on European Union Affairs . In the 17th legislative period (2009) Ulrich was the parliamentary manager of the left-wing parliamentary group. He is a full member of the Council of Elders in the Bundestag.

Alexander Ulrich was drafted into the Bundestag in 2005 via the open state list of the Rhineland-Palatinate party of the Left Party.PDS , in 2009, 2013 and 2017 as the list leader via the state list of the party Die Linke .

In the local elections in 2009 and 2014, Ulrich was elected to the Kaiserslautern district assembly and the Weilerbach municipal council.

criticism

The members of the Bundestag Alexander Ulrich, Katrin Werner and Brigitte Freihold are accused of abusing the state association Die Linke Rheinland-Pfalz with the help of unfair methods for the purpose of obtaining their own mandates ("System Ulrich").
