Alexander Ivanovich Ustinov ( Russian Александр Иванович Устинов * 7. December 1976 in Paustowo , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Russian MMA fighter and kickboxer and current boxers in the heavyweight division .

Professional boxing career

Ustinow began his professional career successfully in 2005 when he defeated Aleh Tsukanau and Aleh Ramanau in Minsk by technical knockout . In 2009 he boxed against Michael Sprott and Monte Barrett , among others . He was able to win both fights on points. In the fight against Barrett, the WBA's vacant international belt was at stake.

The following year Ustinow defeated the Italian Paolo Vidoz in Ukraine also on points.

At the end of September 2012 Ustinow competed against Kubrat Pulev for the EBU European title and the IBF international title and suffered his first defeat, he lost in round 11 by classic knockout. The following year, Ustinov beat David Tua unanimously on points.

On November 25, 2017, Manuel Charr defeated Ustinow in the fight for the vacant World Championship title of the WBA by a unanimous decision on points and thus became the first world heavyweight champion of Arab origin.
