From October 2001 Echo Moskwy ran the six-hour musical night program "Silver" ( Серебро Serebro ; later renamed "Argentum", Аргентум ) together with Dmitri Borisow . After Borisov left, Pljuschtschew moderated the program alone or together with Larissa Jasnogorodska .

Dismissal scandal

On November 5th, 2014 posted Pljuschtschew the death of the deputy chairman of Vnesheconombank Alexander Ivanov , son of the head of Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, on his Twitter account the commenting question " Считаете ли вы гибель сына Иванова, некогда сбившего старушку и засудившего её зятя, доказательством существования Бога / высшей справедливости? »(German:“ Do you believe the death of Ivanov's son, who once struck down an old woman and sued her son-in-law, is proof of the existence of God / a higher justice? ”). After a few hours, Pljuschtschew deleted this tweet and apologized.

A few days earlier, the radio program "Eyewitness" ( Своими глазами Swoimi glasami ) allegedly justified "war crimes" about the events in Ukraine, for which the radio station Echo Moskwy issued a warning from the Russian supervisory authority for mass media, telecommunications and data protection for "disregard of the norms of professional journalistic ethics ”.

On November 6, 2014, Echo Moskwy sacked Pljuschtschew after a decision by the chairman of the Gazprom-Media holding company, Mikhail Lessin , bypassing the editor-in-chief Alexander Wenediktov . Wenediktov did not consider the decision on the dismissal as legally binding and was ready to go to court, since the decision contradicted the statutes of Echo Moskvy.

On November 20, 2014, Pljuschtschew returned to work after an agreement between Wenediktov and Lessin invalidated his dismissal.
