Alexandra Masterson

Alexandra Masterson (born June 21, 1963 in Houston , Texas ; born Carlin Alexandra Masterson ) is an American actress .

Life and accomplishments

Alexandra Masterson is a daughter of the director and actor Peter Masterson , whose wife Carlin Glynn and younger daughter Mary Stuart Masterson also work as actresses. The family moved to New York City in the 1960s . Alexandra Masterson studied art history at Rice University , and she was tutored by Geraldine Page and Ellen Burstyn in acting. She worked at the New York Actor's Studio and the Alley Theater in Houston.

The actress received her first film role in the 1985 drama A Trip to Bountiful , with which her father made her directorial debut. Geraldine Page and Carlin Glynn cast larger roles in this film. Alexandra Masterson also worked as a production assistant. In the 1988 comedy Die Suckel vom Texas-Grill , Masterson starred opposite Gene Hackman , directed by her father . Also directed by Peter Masterson was the Western Blood Red - Die for your country (1989), in which she played one of the sisters of the main character Marco Collogero ( Eric Roberts ). Another of his sisters played Julia Roberts in this film , for whom it was the first major role. In the drama Smoke Screens (1997) Alexandra Masterson played one of the bigger roles.

Masterson was married to composer John Ralph Dumke from 1988 to 1990 and is divorced.
