Alexandre Astruc
Alexandre Astruc (born July 13, 1923 in Paris , † May 19, 2016 ibid) was a French film director , screenwriter , writer and film critic .
Life
After graduating from high school, Astruc first wanted to start studying engineering, but then studied law and art and successfully completed both courses. He was then first a literary critic, then a film critic, writing for Combat , La Gazette du Cinéma , L'Écran français and Les Cahiers du cinéma , among others . He made a few films in the 1950s and 1960s, but it became increasingly difficult for him to find a producer for his elegant and personal films. Since then he has worked as a screenwriter and director for television and as a freelance writer.
