Alexandre Kum'a Ndumbe III. (Born November 1, 1946 in Douala ) is a historian , university professor and Germanist from Cameroon.

Life

Alexandre Kum'a Ndumbe III. is a Cameroonian historian who comes from the royal family of the Bele Bele / Bell in the Cameroonian port city of Duala and bears the title of Prince. He spent part of his school days at the Maria-Theresia-Gymnasium in Munich before going to study at the University of Lyon . There he received his doctorate in both history and German . In 1989 he completed his habilitation at the Free University of Berlin . In recent decades, he taught and teaches at the University of Berlin, the University of Lyon II , the Catholic University of Lyon and the Université de Yaoundé I .

Kum'a Ndumbe asks the Five Continents Museum in Munich to return a tangué that Max Buchner stole in Douala in December 1884 . It is an artfully decorated ship's beak that served as the insignum of the local king Kum'a Mbape, Ndumbe's grandfather.

In 2012 there were more than 30 printed works by Alexandre Kum'a Ndumbe III. some of which were published in Germany. He writes mainly in German and French, but also in English and Duala .
