Alexei Maximov

Alexei Alexandrowitsch Maximow ( Russian Алексе́й Алекса́ндрович Макси́мов ; * 1952 in the USSR ) is a Soviet and Russian painter .

Alexei Maximow is known as the creator of enamel miniatures and also works as a portrait , landscape and still life painter. His works can be found in several art museums in and outside Russia . In 1987 he became a member of the Russian Painters' Union, and in total his works have been exhibited in more than 100 art exhibitions around the world. He lives in Saint Petersburg .

For the first time in the history of Russian culture, Elizabeth II , Queen of Great Britain, consented to sit in front of Russian artists in 1992 - this honor was bestowed on Maximov and Leonid Efros . The session made a pleasant impression on the Queen, so that after a week, on her recommendation, Princess Anne sat model for Maksimov, and on the 31st of the same month the Queen-Mother . In 1994 and 1999, model making sessions were held in The Hague (Netherlands) and Oslo (Norway), at which the painter depicted the ruling monarchs of these countries.

Exhibitions

The first personal exhibition of Maximov was organized in 1979 together with the painter Leonid Efros in the Podolsk City Museum of Local History . The second took place in the same year at the Moscow State Literary Museum. Two major exhibitions of Maximov took place in the armory of the Moscow Kremlin in the early 1990s , in which his works were presented in the historical art context of the enamel painters in several centuries of Russian history. In 1995 and 1999 he had his personal exhibitions in Germany ( Dortmund , Witten), graphics and paintings were shown at the exhibitions.

In 1991 the painter painted a miniature “Portrait of Faberge” for the anniversary exhibition “The World of Fabergé ” for the Moscow Kremlin museums with the assistance of the Alexander Konanychin Fund . The exhibition organizers - museum experts exhibited the miniature in the central showcase of the exhibition, together with the key work of the exhibition, the Moscow Kremlin Easter egg. After Moscow, the exhibition was shown in several large stands around the world.

In April 2012, an exhibition of the works of Alexei Maximow "Royal Portraits" took place in London , which was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the throne of Queen Elizabeth II and the 20th anniversary of the first meeting at Buckingham Palace (March 3, 1992) . At this exhibition, enamel miniatures depicting Queen Elisabeth II, the Queen Mother, Princess Anna, Queen Beatrix , King Harald V and Queen Sonja were shown, model drawings and more than 50 photographs that were taken at the meetings .

Queen Elizabeth II agreed to accept one of the portraits, which was part of the collection, as a gift on the anniversary of the accession to the throne, which was brought to Buckingham Palace after the exhibition .

The production of such an enamel miniature can take more than twelve months. The miniatures are framed with white gold , silver and diamonds .

Awards

In 1982 Maximow was awarded two miniatures, Portrait of Dmitri Werewitinov and Portrait of the Painter Inna Olewskaja, to the III. Quadrennial of Decorative Arts in Erfurt awarded the international prize for outstanding artistic achievements. In 1988 he received the main prize in the “Enamel-88” exhibition of the Leningrad Department of the Russian Painters' Union for the triptych “Mountains, City, Gothic”. In the same year, the miniature "Vernissage" was exhibited in the enamel museum in Limoges (France) after receiving the purchase price .
