Alexei Sergejewitsch Wassiljew ( Russian Алексей Сергеевич Васильев ; born September 1, 1977 in Yaroslavl , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with Lokomotive Yaroslavl from the Continental Hockey League .
Career
Alexei Vasiliev began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Torpedo Yaroslavl . For the professional team of the club he first played between 1993 and 1996 in the international hockey league . After this was replaced by the Super League , the defender with Torpedo won the Russian championship title in the 1996/97 season . He then received a contract with the New York Rangers , who had selected him in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft in the fifth round as a total of 110 players. The entire season 1997/98 he had to suspend due to a knee injury he suffered in the Rangers training camp. From 1998 to 2000 he finally played for the Rangers' farm team , the Hartford Wolf Pack , in the American Hockey League . He scored 21 goals and prepared 49 goals in a total of 171 games. He also came in the 1999/2000 season for his only use for the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League .
On September 25, 2000, Vasilyev was given to the Nashville Predators . In these he was also only in the farm team for use and played in the 2000/01 season 73 games for the Milwaukee Admirals in the International Hockey League , in which he scored six goals and gave twelve templates. In the summer of 2001, the left shooter returned to his hometown club from Yaroslavl, which had since changed its name to Locomotive. With Lokomotiv Yaroslavl he immediately became a master in 2002 and 2003 . In the following years, the former junior international became a leading player in his team, with which he became Russian runner-up in 2008. Since the 2008/09 season he has been on the ice for Lokomotiv in the newly founded Continental Hockey League , in whose premiere season he and his team Ak Bars Kazan lost 3: 4 wins in the playoff final for the Gagarin Cup . In the following season Vasilyev was also assistant captain at Lokomotive. Following the 2010/11 season , he left Lokomotive Yaroslavl and was without a club until November 2011, before the Russian was committed by Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod .
In September 2013 he returned to Lokomotive and played there until the end of the 2014/15 season.
International
For Russia , Vasilyev took part in the junior division in the U18 European Junior Championship in 1995 , the Junior World Championship in 1996 and 1997 .
