Alexis Ruano Delgado (born August 4, 1985 in Málaga ), short Alexis , is a Spanish football player who is primarily used as a central defender .
Career
Alexis Ruano Delgado's professional career began in 2001 in the B team of his home club Málaga . After 50 games he was appointed to the first team in 2003, for which he played 50 games until the 2006/07 season in the Primera División and, after relegation at the end of the 2005/06 season, in the Segunda División .
For the 2006/07 season he was signed by the first division FC Getafe for 2.5 million euros. Under the German coach Bernd Schuster , he developed into one of the best central defenders in Spain the following season. This led to his election to the eleven of the year.
