Alf C. Zimmer (born November 2, 1943 in Bevensen ) is a German psychologist .

Career

Zimmer completed his studies in psychology at the University of Münster in 1971 with a diploma . He went to the University of Tübingen as a research assistant , where he was preparing for his doctorate (1973). In 1973 he came to Regensburg University as an assistant .

From 1976 he was a lecturer in general psychology at the University of Oldenburg . In 1980 he returned to Münster, where he completed his habilitation in 1982 . At the same time he was a visiting scholar at Stanford University (USA) from 1980 to 1983 .

In 1984 he followed a call to the University of Regensburg. From 1988 to 1990 he was dean of the Philosophical Faculty II and from 1990 a member of the university's senate. From 2001 to 2009 he was its rector. He was also deputy chairman from 2005 to 2007 and chairman of the University of Bavaria from 2007 to 2009 . In 2009 he retired.
