Alfons Müller

Karl Alfons Müller (born May 28, 1931 in Berzdorf ; † October 13, 2003 in Wesseling ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Müller was born the son of a post office attendant. After attending elementary school, he completed an apprenticeship as a farrier and cart smith , welder and locksmith . In 1955 and 1956 he continued his education at the Catholic Social Institute in Honnef , where he passed his diploma and then took up a job with the Catholic Workers' Movement (KAB). Here he was employed as the association secretary from 1960 to 1992. From 1971 to 1991 he was federal chairman of the KAB. Furthermore, he worked as managing director of Kettelerhaus GmbH from 1964, from 1968 to 1984 as vice-president of the Central Committee of German Catholics (ZdK) and from 1965 to 1985 as a member of the broadcasting council of the WDR .

Political party

Müller joined the CDU in 1955. From 1982 to 1990 he was chairman of the Christian Democratic Workers' Union (CDA) for the Middle Rhine district .

MP

Müller was from 1956 to 1961 council member of the Berzdorf municipality, was then elected to the council of the city of Wesseling and was council chairman from 1976 to 1994. From 1965 to 1975 he was a member of the district council of Cologne and from 1976 to 1994 a district council member of the Erftkreis . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1980 to 1994. He was always drawn into parliament via the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia . From 1987 to 1990 he was deputy chairman of the Bundestag Committee on Labor and Social Affairs.

Public offices

Müller was deputy district administrator for the Cologne district from 1965 to 1975. From 1976 to 1994 he was mayor of the city of Wesseling.
