Alfred Eden-Bant

Alfred Eden-Bant (born March 22, 1898 in Bant ; † March 24, 1974 in Wilhelmshaven ; actually Alfred Eden ) was a North German draftsman , etcher and painter (including stage painter ).

Life

After leaving school, he learned the blacksmith's trade and did not turn to painting until 1923. From the mid-1920s he earned his living as a stage painter in the theater and at the Niederdeutsche Bühne in Wilhelmshaven. During this time he first took part in an exhibition in the Wilhelmshavener Kunsthalle . Further solo exhibitions followed in Oldenburg and Bremen . After the Second World War, he worked as an art teacher at various schools in Wilhelmshaven , before taking up a position as an employee in the Wilhelmshaven Waterways and Shipping Office .

Alfred Eden-Bant died in 1974 two days after his 76th birthday.

Since 1948 he was a member of the Association of Visual Artists Northwest Germany.

Alfred Eden-Bant was self-taught and preferred to depict social issues in his early work. Later he preferred to devote himself to painting at home . In oil paintings, watercolors and etchings he placed the marshland , the sluice ports and the historical sites of the Wilhelmshaven area in the foreground of his artistic activity.
