Alfred Eisfeld

Alfred Eisfeld (born May 18, 1951 in Uwa , Udmurt ASSR , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian-German historian .

Live and act

At the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn (1975) and at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich (1977) Eisfeld studied the history of Eastern and Southeastern Europe as well as political science and newspaper sciences. In 1983 he received his doctorate in Munich with the thesis German Colonies on the Volga 1917-1919 and the German Empire . From 1984 to 1987 he worked as a research assistant at the Eastern European Institute in Munich , then until 1988 as a research assistant for the Göttingen working group .

Since 1988 he has been managing director of the Göttinger Arbeitskreis eV and since 1990 managing director of the Institute for Research on Germany and Eastern Europe of the Göttingen Arbeitskreis eV From 2002 to 2010 he headed the Göttingen department of the Institute for Culture and History of Germans in Northeast Europe eV (IKGN eV). Since 2010 he has been a research assistant at the Göttingen site of the IKGN eV

Eisfeld is an expert on the history and culture of Germans in the Russian Empire , the Soviet Union and the CIS , Russian and Soviet nationality politics, German-Russian and German-Ukrainian relations.

Since 1996 he has been chairman of the "Scientific Commission for Germans in Russia and in the CIS eV", since 1999 assessor of the board of the East German Cultural Council Foundation, 1988–1993 deputy chairman of the German cultural council from Russia; since 2010 scientific advisor to the Foundation for Flight, Expulsion, Reconciliation ; 2009–2013 member of the federal board of the Landsmannschaft der Deutschen von Russia .
