Alfred Förster (born August 28, 1937 in Lodz ; † February 4, 2018 ) was a German engineer and politician ( SPD ). In 1990 he was a member of the freely elected People's Chamber and from 1990 to 1994 a member of the Saxon state parliament .

Life and work

The Förster family moved to the Soviet occupation zone in 1947 . Alfred Förster attended elementary school in Langendorf from 1947 and from 1952 the Geschwister-Scholl-Oberschule in Zeitz , which he finished with the Abitur in 1956. From 1956 to 1962 he studied at the TU Dresden / Faculty of Aviation. From 1962 to 1970 he worked as a project engineer in various companies. He then worked as an assistant at Chemnitz University of Technology , where he received his doctorate in 1973 with the “ elaboration of means and methods for the rationalization of the technological project planning of parts manufacturing companies in the textile machinery industry, examining the manufacture of bearing and lever-shaped workpiece assortments ” as a Dr. Ing. And 1983 on the subject of " Computer-aided dimensioning and structuring of manufacturing systems with CAD-FAIF " for Dr. sc. techn.

From the beginning of the 1990s to April 30, 2001, he held the professorship for production modeling at the Institute for Industrial Management and Factory Systems at the TU Chemnitz.

He was of the Protestant denomination, married and had two children. Förster last lived in Mittweida and died at the age of 80.

Alfred Förster had been a member of the SPD since March 1990 and deputy chairman of the SPD local association in Chemnitz . In the People's Chamber election in 1990 he was elected to the People's Chamber for his party in constituency 08 (Karl-Marx-Stadt), to which he belonged from March to October 1990. There he was a member of the committees for economy and German unity . He was also the head of the economics working group within his parliamentary group.

In October 1990 he was elected to the Saxon state parliament for the SPD Saxony via the state list . There he was head of the Education, Science and Media working group. He was also a chairman of the committee for science and universities and a full member of the committee of rules of procedure. In the state elections in 1994 he missed re-entry into the state parliament due to the poor performance of the SPD in 26th place.
