Alfred Hansen (botanist)

Hans Alfred Hansen (born October 2, 1925 in Snekkemose, municipality Rise Sogn on Ærø , Denmark ; † January 29, 2008 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish botanist .

Life

His research area included the flora of the Mediterranean and Macaronesia as well as the flora change in Denmark. The main part of his professional activity took place at the Botanical Museum of the University of Copenhagen , where he was custodian of the Danish herbarium from 1960 to 1995 . He has recombined or newly described over 50 plant species, most of them together with his Norwegian colleague Per Sunding (* 1937).

His botanical author abbreviation is " A.Hansen ".
