Alfred Heider

Alfred "Manni" Heider (born June 22, 1925 in Patschkau , † December 14, 2012 in Wolfsburg ) was a German football player . The outside runner played for VfL Wolfsburg in the Oberliga Nord .

Athletic career

Heider started playing soccer at the age of eleven. After he fought in World War II and was captured, he continued his career at TSV Ehmen after the war . He then played for TSV Sülfeld, in Uelzen and MTV Braunschweig , before joining VfL Wolfsburg in 1950. At the same time, he started working for Volkswagen . In the second-rate amateur league of Lower Saxony , Heider and his club narrowly missed promotion to the league several times. It was not until 1954 that the club rose to the league under coach Ludwig Lachner , with Heider playing a major role: in the decisive game of the promotion round he scored against Heider SV to make it 2-1. As team captain , the outside runner led the field in the Oberliga Nord for the next three years. He scored 14 goals in 57 first division games. In 1957 he ended his active career to concentrate on his job as an accountant.
