Alfred Held (born November 10, 1886 in Neuegg in the municipality of Rüegsau ; † April 28, 1973 in Rüegsau, reformed , resident in Rüegsau) was a Swiss politician (BGB) .

Life

Alfred Held was born on November 10th, 1886 in Neuegg as the son of the farmer Ulrich Held. After attending the agricultural school in Lausanne , Alfred Held took over his father's farm in the eighth generation in 1910, which he then partially converted to cattle and dairy farming .

He was married to Anna, born Wälti, from Lützelflüh . Alfred Held died on April 28, 1973 at the age of 86 in Rüegsau.

Political career

Alfred hero was first in the council of Rüegsau, which he temporarily as mayor presided represented. In 1918 he was one of the founders of the BGB. As a result, Held sat on the Bern Grand Council from 1926 to 1929 and, with interruptions, from 1922 to 1951 in the National Council .

He also acted as a co-founder and board member of the Swiss Seed Breeders Association. Held also presided over the Bernese Fleckviehzuchtverband, the Berner Milchverband and, between 1947 and 1973, the Central Association of Swiss Milk Producers. He also worked as a co-founder in 1940 and as President of the Bern Farmers' Association until 1955.

Alfred Held was considered a typical representative of progressive rural entrepreneurship. His successes in breeding grain and potatoes as well as cattle attracted great attention. In the 1920s he was at the forefront of the bread grain order.
