Alfred Klinkan

Alfred Klinkan (born April 30, 1950 in Judenburg , † September 17, 1994 in Vienna ) was an Austrian painter. He was one of the main representatives of New Painting in Austria.

Life

Klinkan studied from 1970 to 1974 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Josef Mikl and Wolfgang Hollegha . After completing his studies, Klinkan was awarded the Styrian Prize for Contemporary Painting in 1976 and received a scholarship to the Antwerp Academy of Fine Arts. From 1979 to 1981 and 1984 Klinkan lived mainly in Antwerp . 1985 he moved to Freising and opened his studio in Munich . In the same year Klinkan married Hedwig Abert. Two sons were born.
