Alfred Kohlruß

Alfred Kohlruß (born September 10, 1875 in Sereth , Bukovina ; † December 21, 1935 in Chernivtsi ) was a Bukowina-German lawyer and politician .

Life

As the son of a colonist family who immigrated from Bayerisch Eisenstein to Bukowina at the end of the 18th century , Kohlruß studied law in Chernivtsi after attending the state high school in Radautz . During his studies in 1893 he became a member of the Arminia Czernowitz fraternity . In 1897 he was co-founder and until 1925 chairman, then honorary chairman of the Association of Christian Germans in Bukowina , from 1931 German Cultural Association for Bukovina .

From 1900 he took up the judge's career and became a court auscultant, then five years as a public prosecutor in Chernivtsi. In 1901 he founded the Association of German Student Homes in Chernivtsi, of which he later became honorary chairman. In 1903 he was involved in founding the Association of German Agricultural Cooperatives in Bukovina . In 1904 he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD .

From 1916 to 1918 he headed the public prosecutor's office in Linz , most recently as an appellate judge . In 1918 he returned to his homeland and from 1920 worked as a lawyer in Chernivtsi. From 1918 to 1919 and from 1926 to 1935 he was chairman of the German People's Council for Bukovina . In 1919 he was involved in founding the Chernivtsi Theater Association. Also in the founding of the German newspaper cooperative , which he headed as chairman.

From 1920 to 1922 he was a member of the Romanian parliament and second chairman of the faction of the German People's Party . He was also the deputy chairman of the Association of Germans in Greater Romania . In 1924 he was involved in founding the Deutsche Landwirtschaftsbank AG in Chernivtsi, where he acted as in-house counsel and member of the board of directors. From 1926 to 1927 he was again a member of parliament and from 1928 to 1930 City Councilor of Chernivtsi. From 1933 he also worked as a lawyer for the German consulate.

He published as a writer under the pseudonyms Alf and Hermano . He was editor and later also co-editor of the German national monthly Bukowiner Bote . He also published the calendar for the Germans in Bukovina . He worked for the daily newspaper Bukowiner Nachrichten , as well as other newspapers and magazines. He also worked on the first volume of the concise dictionary of border and foreign Germany (1934).
