Alfred Marquart

Alfred Marquart (pseudonym: Martin S. Gans ; * 1945 in Waibstadt ; † September 3, 2012 in Heidelberg ) was a German radio journalist , presenter and author .

Life

Alfred Marquart worked for 39 years for the radio programs of the Süddeutscher Rundfunk , Südwestfunk and their successor, Südwestrundfunk .

After studying German, history, politics and philosophy at the University of Heidelberg , he decided against a university career and started a traineeship at the Süddeutscher Rundfunk in 1971 . He became an editor for youth radio, later for the political magazine "Südfunk aktuell". Marquart worked for all three radio waves of the SDR. In 1980 he switched to the Südfunk 3 program, where he moderated the programs “Bücherbar” and “Kultur um five”. During this time, together with Herbert Borlinghaus , he wrote the satirical radio play series Der Frauenarzt von Bischofsbrück , which parodied the trivial novel. The series was taken over by several other ARD stations.

Marquart then went to Südwestfunk in Baden-Baden and in May 1988 became head of entertainment / magazines at SWF radio. From 1998 to 2010 he was one of the defining voices in the cultural program SWR2 .

Marquart was married, he had five children, and he said of himself that he couldn't live without music. He has been addicted to music theater since he attended a performance of Don Giovanni at the age of five . His “passions” included: “Cooking (Italian), red wine (French), painting (Italian Renaissance) and books (everything).” He died on September 3, 2012 in Heidelberg.
