Gynecologist Dr. Julius Borg, who came from a poor background, never met his father. His mother financed his medical studies with bitter savings and always kept his father's identity hidden from him. Still, Borg felt that someone else had protected him for all these years. But after he refused to carry out certain attempts against the pharmaceutical industry, a grueling odyssey begins for the young doctor, which takes him to India to the ashram of Bhagwan Haschi Brabesch, to Rome to the clutches of the Italian mafia , to the soccer World Cup leads to Spain and a military sports group camp of right-wing extremists. But already at the beginning of these events it is clear to the listener, "that at the end of this journey (...) the love of a beautiful countess and a fulfilled life in an old forester's house" on Dr. Borg wait.

Others

The authors of the series, which parodied the genre of the trivial novel on the one hand and satirically commenting on current events in society and politics on the other, were Alfred Marquart and Herbert Borlinghaus . After the series of 693 episodes, for which Gert Westphal was available as narrator, several books and a five-part record series as well as 7 double CDs were published. The well-known introductory and closing music comes from Hans-Jürgen Schmid and is entitled Remembrance . The episodes were always broadcast at 10:15 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. In Mannheim , when numerous radio receivers were switched on at the same time, the local power grid was said to have reached the limit of its capacity. The party youth associations Young Democrats and Young Union took up the plot of the radio play series and demanded in press releases the release of Julius Borg when he was captured in the course of the series. The series has been repeated in SWR4 Baden-Württemberg since September 15, 2010.

The radio play series appeared in the mid-1980s as a paperback series (a total of seven paperbacks).
