Alfred Pernice

Lothar Anton Alfred Pernice (born August 18, 1841 in Halle ; † September 23, 1901 in Berlin ) was a professor of Roman law .

Life

Pernice studied philology and law in Halle, Göttingen and Tübingen . In 1862 he was promoted to Dr. phil. and in 1863 Dr. iur. PhD. After participating in the German War in 1866 , he completed his habilitation as a private lecturer in Halle in 1867, where he became an associate professor of Roman law in 1870 and a full professor in 1871. In the same year he went to Greifswald in the same capacity , again to Halle in 1877 and finally to Berlin in 1881, where he became a full member of the Academy of Sciences in 1884 .

Alfred Pernice died in Berlin in 1901 at the age of 60. His grave is in the Old Twelve Apostles Cemetery in Berlin-Schöneberg . The two-axis sandstone wall grave with a triangular gable is dominated by a raised cross with rays emanating from its center.
