Alfred Rhyner
Alfred Rhyner (born February 17, 1915 in Schönenwerd ; † May 19, 1975 in Ronco sopra Ascona ; resident in Elm ) was a Swiss entrepreneur .
Life
Alfred Rhyner was the son of Kaspar Rhyner, a carter and later a pig farmer, and Bertha Schwendimann. He married Maria Walker, daughter of Severin Walker. He attended secondary school in Neukirch ( Egnach community ). He then completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter . He trained intensively in the building trade. Rhyner took over as an independent building contractor caverns - and bunkers for the army and construct shafts for power plants . From 1942 he experimented with the production of fluorescent tubes . In 1946 Rhyner founded Fluora Leuchten GmbH in Herisau . In the 1980s, this was one of the three most important Swiss manufacturers of lighting fixtures. In 1947 his brother Paul Rhyner became a partner and commercial director.
