Alfred Schreiber (born October 12, 1838 in Vienna , † September 9, 1910 in Baden ) was an Austrian theater actor , theater director and operetta singer ( tenor ).

Life

Alfred Schreiber, son of a businessman, first wanted to be trained as a sculptor by Professors Radnitzky and Bauer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna . Friends, who saw his talent for the stage, persuaded in 1865 to retrain to become a stage actor. He took on engagement in Marienbad, Klagenfurt, Raab, Pilsen, Karlsbad, Reichenberg and Baden. On September 26, 1871, he made his debut at the newly opened Strampfer Theater in "Mr. Greißler's son-in-law". He stayed there until February 1, 1872, when he moved to the Theater an der Wien . In 1875 he took over the management of the city theater and the arena in Baden near Vienna . From 1879 on, he not only managed these facilities, but also the city theater in Wiener Neustadt. In 1886 he moved to Graz and returned to Baden in 1891. There he directed up to this stage and also the Stadttheater Ödenburg . Schreiber died in 1910.
